A trained Civil/Geotechnical & Structural Engineer with an excellent grasp of the fundamental principles underlying the major sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. Nicholas completed a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2003 from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad followed by Masters in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Texas Austin, USA in 2009 and is currently in the final stages of completing another master’s degree in Structural Engineering at the University of Surrey, UK. Additional certification attained includes Project Management Professional (PMP) and Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) from the Project Management Institute.
He has worked in various roles in the Civil Engineering and construction spectrum ranging from Project Engineer and Project Coordinator in Antigua and Saint Lucia respectively. Nicholas has also worked as an Engineering Consultant on several World Bank funded infrastructural projects in Grenada and Dominica. Other assignments executed as a consultant include the following.
- Hydrological modeling and Hydraulic design of drainage infrastructure of the Marquis Watershed; Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC, World Bank Funded) – Engineering Consultant for the Design Supervision and Certification. July 2024 – Dec 2024
- Served as Key Expert (Geotechnical Engineer) on the Multi Hazard Risk Assessment, Strengthening Coastal Road Infrastructure Resilience to Geophysical and Climate Related Hazards in St. Kitts and Nevis. August 2018 – April 2020.
- Served as Lead Expert on Riviere Mitan (Saint Lucia) Disaster Risk Management – Drainage Rehabilitation and Construction, a project under CDEMA with funding from CCDRMF. The assignment included Hydrologic Modeling & Hydraulic Assessment and designs
- Served as Key Expert (Geotechnical Engineer) on the St. Lucia Hazard Risk Assessment for the Consultant CEAC Solutions Ltd, Jamaica.
- Design and construction supervision Wingsville Pedestrian Bridge (A 15.0m clear span pedestrian bridge over the Soufriere River).
Nicholas’ skills set is diverse and includes finite element modeling, modal analysis, time history analysis, liquefaction assessment, hydrological modeling and hydraulic assessments, Management and Administration of Contracts and Risk Management. He is competent in the use of numerous engineering software like SAP2000, GeoStudio, Plaxis, Rockscience, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS.
